A senior Russian army officer has been declared dead following an blast in Moscow, according to an investigative body.
The attack took place on Monday morning when an explosive device placed beneath a vehicle was set off, causing the death of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov.
Sarvarov held the position of the head of the armed forces' unit responsible for operational readiness.
Authorities stated that one possible explanation suggests the potential involvement of Ukrainian intelligence services. To date, Ukraine has offered no public response.
