Diving into an Bizarre Steam Demo: Playing as a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and enthusiasts have encountered numerous engaging indie games. But, one stands out for its quirky concept. Called Unko Technica, this classic-feel side-scrolling game includes a hero that is actually a piece of poop striving to make its way to a toilet. In case you're wondering, "Unko" translates to "poop."
How you interact is easy to grasp: just use a one button to leap. In one hundred fifty levels, you'll face tough enemies and access a store to purchase customizations for your poop character.
Execute your actions with caution, since one error forces starting over. Jump on bubbles to propel your character to new heights, navigate fragile ledges, and activate buttons to reveal new areas. Earn currency for buying challenging levels where the action gets crazy.
In terms of design, the game features neon environments and catchy music score. Its minimalist visual style of moving basic polygons may remind fans of old favorites like Earthbound.
Even though hard to name previous releases where you play as a piece of feces, gaming have long featured fecal matter. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players make throwables from character excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize manure as soil enrichment. Unsurprisingly, fecal references appears heavily in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.
Despite its humorous idea, Unko Technica has already garnered impressive recognition, including being named best at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. A playable preview is ready currently on Steam, with the complete version set to arrive on computers on November 19.
