Nigel Farage Claims Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “harming young minds” by instructing students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

During an event for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his perspective on the UK education system, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.

“I expect a teachers’ strike very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked in response to questions.

“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They promote this negative culture.”

In response to these assertions, the head of a major education union rejected the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.

“The politician has crafted his political career on coded rhetoric and currently, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a conflict,” the union leader said.

“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”

Reform, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and seems not to have designated an education lead.

Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the educational framework. He said: “We face an enormous task with education – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”

Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Paying tribute to a conservative activist, Farage said: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind rather than current practices where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”

Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

Farage has accused the union head with being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.

Countrywide walkouts over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and extensive missed instruction for children.

At the US event, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I am serious. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to these educational programs. I make that commitment tonight and I’ll do that.”

The institution, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for no charge to every interested learner.”
