Top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka Secures Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Awards.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive season.
The twenty-seven-year-old captured four titles – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.
A Season of Consistency
Throughout the year, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The star player also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the world number one, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.
In July, she became the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Record-Breaking Statistics
Sabalenka finished the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and earned a record eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.
She garnered almost eighty percent of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".
Other WTA Award Honorees
- Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking extended hiatus after the arrival of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year.
- Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after starting the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and climbing to world number 18.
- Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after winning their second Grand Slam title together.
- Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after reaching five championship matches.
Recently, Carlos Alcaraz won three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
