Tottenham Boss Frank Labels Goalkeeper Critics 'Not True Genuine Fans'
Fulham Begin Powerfully to Beat Spurs and Raise Tension on the Manager
Spurs fans who booed keeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed afterwards "they can't be real Tottenham supporters" by boss Frank.
Tottenham let in a pair of scores in the first initial moments to lose 2-1 to Fulham, registering their 10th top-flight home defeat of 2025.
However the main topic of discussion was Fulham's second goal when the keeper lost possession far outside his area.
He ventured out to handle a long ball and took the ball near the touchline.
However, rather than kicking it into touch, the Italian spun and attempted to clear, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Wilson and was controlled by King.
King laid the ball off to Wales midfield player Wilson, who curled a shot into the net from the sideline recorded at thirty-six point six metres.
Seconds later when the ball came to the keeper again, some Tottenham fans booed him.
Spurs were booed off at the interval, with the club 2-0 down, and again at the final whistle.
A particular of those booing sessions truly irritated the manager.
"It came to my attention a few of our fans apparently booed the situation and jeered following, which, in my opinion is completely unjustifiable," the Danish manager commented about the fans' reaction to his goalkeeper.
"[They] can't be true Tottenham supporters that act that way. Fair enough jeering after the match, no problem, but when we are in play, we are backing one another, we are behind each other going forward."
Tete had given the visitors a fourth-minute advantage before Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Spurs in an better second-half showing.
Ex- top-flight goalkeeper Joe Hart remarked that the next goal was "totally preventable".
"I certainly understand the fans' disappointment," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the role the keeper is performing. He's a great squad member, he's a true figure in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your decisions.
"He was deeply involved in what turned out to be the decisive score."
'It is In the Game, I Can Handle It'
Thomas Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Match
Italy international the keeper is in his 3rd season with Tottenham.
He said after the match that he had to take the feedback.
"That score was a error of my own, I take responsibility for it," he commented.
"The intent was to clear the ball far and I simply hit the ball in a poor way. That made an more difficult mountain to climb."
He said receiving jeers "comes with football".
"I am mature, what can I say?" he continued. "We cannot be influenced by the situation in the stands. The fans have the entitlement to do as they see fit.
"It is on us to remain increasingly calm, to concentrate on ourselves. We are lacking in composure and calmness to overturn results. This match is a poor loss and it is hard to take."
'I Was Surprised No One Returned to the Line'
In spite of the keeper's error, it was far from an easy goal for Wilson to score.
In fact it was the second most distant top division goal of the campaign – following Tyler Adams' forty-three point three metre goal for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which incidentally also came on Saturday.
The goalscorer said he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an empty goal to target.
10 seconds passed between Vicario exiting of his box and Wilson shooting – which was 5 seconds following the clearance.
"I felt like the keeper was away from the box for ages," he said.
"It amazed me none of the back four returned to the goal line. When not one of them defended the net, my eyes lit up a bit.
"Udogie fell as well, which gave me a bit of additional time. After that it was solely about trying to make the correct connection and place it on target. I had a positive feeling, the moment it came off my foot, that it was on the right line."
'During in a Bad Spell, All Appears to Go Against You'
Jeering While We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unjustifiable - Frank
Although the keeper's error dominated coverage, this was an overall bad performance for Spurs to extend their home ground woes.
This was their 10th at home defeat of the year in the Premier League, a shared club record along with 1994 and two thousand and three.
The side still have home fixtures against Frank's former club the Bees and champions Liverpool to play before the end of the season.
Only one of those victories have occurred after the manager replaced Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.
"If you are behind 2-0 following the opening, there is a mountain to climb," stated Frank.
"During in a bad spell, all aspects appears to go against you too – the first was a redirected attempt, the second is a mistake from the keeper.
"This result leaves us in a place where we have suffered another game. Every game has a unique narrative, today we were defeated in the first six minutes.
"We just need to keep working. The later period was much better and with luck an aspect we can utilize to learn."
Tottenham have been defeated in 4 consecutive at home London derbies for the first time in the top division.
And they are averaging nine point five attempts and three point two efforts on goal per game in the Premier League – their poorest averages on record in a one season (dating back to 2003-04).
Former Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy stated that the manager has to endure the criticism.
"He must accept the stick," the pundit remarked. "He has accepted a high profile job at a major football club with massive expectation. There is pressure and responsibility that accompanies that.
"The performances at their stadium have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
